Koch Subsidiary Buys Into Paralubes
Shell Oil Co. and Flint Hills Resources announced April 23 that they have entered a definitive agreement for Shell to sell its 50-percent stake in Excel Paralubes to a Flint Hills Resources LLC subsidiary. Flint Hills Resources is a wholly-owned subsidiary of oil and chemical conglomerate Koch Industries Inc.

Lubrizol, Milacron Sales Rise
The industrial lubricants sector was good to both Lubrizol Corp. and Milacron Inc. during the first quarter of 2003. Revenue for Lubrizol's industrial segment jumped 38 percent, driving an 18 percent improvement in the company's consolidated earnings. Milacron's industrial fluids business enjoyed a 12 percent increase in sales.

Operational problems are hampering base oil production at ExxonMobil’s Baytown, Texas, refinery, putting the squeeze on a Group II-plus market that was already tight.
